Enjoy these amazingly healthy, simple ‘no-bake’ sugar plums.
Many years ago, while teaching second grade, my class had a Nutcracker themed holiday party. Our room parent made sugar plum fairy treats. They were at hit, devoured by children and adults. I have used this recipe ever since. These morsels are delightfully packed with flavor and perfect for lunch boxes or after school car pools (on the go) treats. Change out ingredients, with any dried fruit that you have on hand. This recipe is forgiving and flexible.

- 2 cups roasted chopped almonds- or nuts/seeds of choice
- 1/4 cup organic local honey- (this helps with allergies)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup chopped dried apricots
- ½ cup dried cranberries
- 1 cup pitted Medjool chopped dates
- Small pinch of sea salt
- Zest of one citrus fruit (use what you have on hand: orange, lime, blood orange or lemon)
- Confectioner’s sugar for dusting on the formed mini ‘sugar plums’
Combine and mix well!
Form sugar plums, pinch off a tablespoon of mixture and roll into a ball. When all sugar plums rolled coat with confectioner’s sugar.
Perfect for school lunches or ‘Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Parties’! These mini sugar plums store well in an airtight container. Happy Holidays…Enjoy!
