Nonna loved taking care of us! She inspired my sister and I in countless ways. Wild strawberries are celebrated in June in a small village outside of Rome each summer. We also celebrate strawberry season in California. A favorite family activity is picking strawberries each summer in Watsonville, California.

I featured the strawberry lemonade recipe in my Huckleberry Hill Adventure, Book One; ‘The Wild Buck’ as it is a perfect California-Italian beverage! What are your favorite ‘old school’ beverages? Would love for you to share! Huckleberry Hugs, Maxine (AKA “Molly”)

Love Italian Pride:

Drew McSherry brought my book to life through his wonderful illustrations. Do you recall using this type of thermos as a child? In the book, Molly and Fern have it filled with strawberry lemonade. Later, they use the thermos to collect wild huckleberries! Fun!
