Today, June 11, 2019 my parents would have been married for 52 years. They are true soul mates, now in heaven together. I am still ‘in a daze’ by the loss and have only just begun the grieving process. Denial only just passed, it’s heart breaking. This is the first anniversary without them. The loss, of both parents in such a short amount of time, has been overwhelming for our family. We embrace our faith, without that we would be truly lost.
I feel, deep down, to my heart and soul that I owe everything to my parents. Amazingly, even now, my parents continue to provide unconditional emotional support, through prayer and internal memories I am comforted. We have internal conversations, if I am still enough and listen I hear their advice. I cherish their words. I feel them by my side. Wow, have they done a remarkable job of instilling dreams and grace to my sister Fran and I. As a mother myself, If I can only pass down a bit of what they inspired within me, my daughter Bella Sophia will be forever blessed.
I also know that my parents loved traditions and family. My sister Fran (Fern) makes the very best home made ice cream. Since it is a California heat wave, I thought I would share her family recipe. My mother and father loved it when she made this recipe. I hope that you can make this ice cream and enjoy happy memories this summer season.
